Three sewing projects

I just wanted to brag a little about the projects I've done lately.  The first was a nursing shield for a friend in the ward, she had registered for one at babiesrus that was 35.00.  I knew Jenni had a pattern for a really nice shield and decided to make one instead of buying it.  Jenni gave the pattern to me and we went shopping for the material together.  It was a nice simple project and I ended up only spending about 5.00 on supplies.  I gave it to my friend today and she thought it was awesome.

The next project was inspired by a trip to the Treehouse Museum in Ogden.  They have a medieval castle exhibit with some really fun dress-ups.  My boys both dressed up as knights while they were there.  The costumes were quite simple so I decided to make them each one to play in here at home.  I had yards of silvery-gray material left over from James' Halloween costume last year, so I just measured Seth, cut out some pieces of fabric, sewed them together and ironed on a fleur-de-lis. Voila, instant knight-in-shining-armor tunics...  All for free!  The boys look really cute in them.

The latest project I completed was a new cover for my infant car seat.  The old one was okay, but was looking a little bedraggled and not very girly.  So after an exhausting search for some great fabric, I finally settled on something.  Jenni was with me and basically forced me to choose something!  It was good that she did or I might never have made up my mind.  The fabric I ended up with was a designer fabric with an orange background, green flowers and brown accents.  It's very autumnal and and not nearly as girly as I initially set out to make it, but it is really nice and suits my tastes.  I created the pattern for the seat by eyeballing a copy of the old cover.  I ended up making several adjustments as I went along, but the result was better than I hoped for.   So now I have a very unique, very fashionable and very cute car seat to put the new baby in.
